In 1991, 22-year-old Harlem native and Howard university student Sean "Puffy" Combs started an internship at Uptown Records that would prove to be the beginning of the most successful and rapid ascent in the history of the entertainment industry.
In 1998 he launched his own line of clothing appropriately named Sean John, his first and middle names. "I didn't want to over use my celebrity," said Puffy. "I just called it Sean John, which is my fashion alter ego and real name."
