What to Wear to a Formal Wedding
Men - How to
Dress for a Formal Wedding
Formal
weddings are always so elegant and, if you're like a lot men, you never are
quite sure what to wear.
Read Your Invitation
First and foremost, you need to
look at your invitation. If your invitation specifically states "Black
Tie", the hosts are asking that everyone who attends please wear a tuxedo.
Black tie invitations are very specific and as such, the most respectful thing
to do is oblige if you're going. If you don't want to wear a tuxedo, cant
afford to purchase or rent one, then simply respond in a timely manner
that you will not be attending.
The Tuxedo
The easiest thing for you to do
pull your tuxedo out of your closet, have it dry cleaned or simply rent one and
you're ready to go. Your choices are many among tuxedo styles but, whether
you have one on your closet or simply renting one, our advice is to stick to a
traditional look.
Necktie or Bow Tie
Today, satin neckties are as
acceptable as satin bow ties, therefore it's really your choice - however if you
want the most formal of looks, we recommend a bow tie. Additionally, keep
in mind that the tuxedo shirt will also dictate the type of tie you wear.
If your tuxedo shirt has a straight collar, then you can wear either a necktie
or bow tie. However if your tuxedo shirt has a turned up collar then the
bow tie is the option.
If you're looking for a
formal bow tie, you can purchase a black satin bow tie from our assortment
of
bow ties.
Formal weddings can be a lot of
fun since everyone is dressed to the nines and if you are invited to one, we
recommend you attend because it's an experience you might just not want to
miss.
